Home Insurance Little Rock AR Each year, more drivers travel America’s roads. As this number goes up, the possibility of accidents also goes up. The difference between a small bother and major obstacle can be the car insurance you own. So how do you know which type of insurance you need and how much you should buy? Your car insurance may be able to pay for the expenses from a car crash ranging from car repairs to legal fees. Choosing to drive without insurance could cause you to repair or replace a stolen or damaged vehicle and pay the cost of all the damage that you may have caused. Liability: Pays for the expenses you are responsible for in a car accident, including injury and property damage. Bodily injury damages can include medical fees, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Property damage includes car repair costs or loss of use of property. If you are in legal trouble, liability insurance can pay for your legal fees. Local laws typically mandate minimum amounts, but higher amounts can be purchased and are usually recommended. Personal Injury Protection: This is mandated in some states and is optional in others. Sometimes referred to as no-fault coverage, this pays the medical treatment for you or your passengers regardless of who was at fault. This insurance can also pay for lost wages, replacement of services and funeral costs. Local law typically sets minimum amounts. Medical Payments: This type of coverage can be purchased in states that are not considered no-fault and will pay no matter who is responsible for the accident. It pays for an insured person’s reasonable and necessary medical and funeral expenses for bodily injury from an accident. Collision: Damages resulting from a car accident will be covered under this type of car insurance. Comprehensive: Protect your car from all non-collision damages by purchasing this type of insurance. This may include protection from burglary, vandalism, and weather damage. Uninsured Motorist: Thousands of drivers are ignoring the law by driving without purchasing the proper amount of auto insurance. This type of coverage will protect you if one of these irresponsible drivers hit you. Under-Insured Motorist: There are other drivers who have liability insurance that might not be able to pay for all the expenses they are supposed to take care of. Under-insured motorist coverage protects you in accidents involving those drivers. Other policies, like car rental and emergency road service, are also available. Your auto insurance payments vary by company and will depend on multiple factors, including: *Your selected coverage *Your vehicle’s make and model * Your driving record * Your age, gender and marital status * The place where you live Many drivers don’t want to pay for auto insurance, but it is truly something you don’t want to live without. Review your needs, research your options, and with the guidance of your insurance agency, make the decision that best suits you.
